Housed at Cape Elizabeth High School, the Donald L. Richards Community Pool is a heated (82°) six-lane, 25-yard pool available for lap swim and adult/child open swim. It also features a heated whirlpool (101°), accessible showers, and changing facilities. The pool is wheelchair and hydro-lift-accessible. Lifeguards are on duty during all open hours. We offer a variety of programs whether you’re looking for structured workouts, improving competitive skills, or taking swim lessons.
You may pay the daily walk-in fee or secure a membership. New memberships may be purchased in person at either the pool or Community Services. See the rate schedule below.
In 1991, the Cape Elizabeth swimming pool was named the Donald L. Richards Community Pool. Richards, the former long-time Cape Elizabeth High School swim coach, holds a record of 903 wins, which ranks him as one of the most successful coaches in the State of Maine. His team won 11 state titles and was state runner-up 15 times during his 30 years of coaching The Capers. In January 2020, he was inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame.
